RAW HONEY PRODUCTS

Yes!
Yes, We only use USA unfiltered and unpasteurized raw honey. Never foreign!

Unfiltered means we don’t push the honey through ultra-fine filters that strip away pollen grains, propolis, and other microscopic treasures from the hive. These natural components are part of what gives raw honey its unique flavor, texture, and potential wellness benefits.

Unpasteurized means we never expose our honey to high heat (never above 105°F). We only warm our honey to help facilitate handling. The goal is to ensure that the temperature doesn’t exceed the temperature inside a beehive on a hot summer day, to preserve the honey’s natural enzymes, antioxidants, and pollen.

Many brands, on the other hand, filter and heat their honey as high as 160–170°F to keep the honey crystal-clear and liquid on store shelves for years. Even brands that label their honey as raw may still use excessive heat which destroys many of the beneficial aspects of honey.

Absolutely not. All raw honey is not the same.

In the United States, the term “raw” is not legally defined or regulated. This means a company can heavily heat or finely filter their honey and still legally label it as raw!

Some commercially sold “raw” honeys may also include imported blends, and independent investigations in the honey industry have revealed cases of honey adulteration with syrups. This is why transparency and sourcing matter.

At Raw Honey Project, our honey is unfiltered and unpasteurized (gently warmed below 105°F) to protect its natural enzymes, antioxidants, and pollen.

Not necessarily

Organic certification generally means the hives are placed in areas where bees forage on organic crops and wild vegetation. However, because bees can fly several miles, guaranteeing 100% organic nectar is extremely difficult.

Organic honey also isn’t automatically higher quality or more “raw.” Many organic honeys are still heavily filtered or heated during processing.

What often matters more than an organic seal is:

  • How the honey is handled
  • Whether it’s exposed to high heat
  • How much it’s filtered
  • How transparent the brand is about sourcing and processing

At Raw Honey Project, we focus on minimal handling, low heat, and keeping honey as close to its natural state as possible — which, for many people, matters more than an organic label when it comes to purity and flavor.
